Does this air intake kit fit the Targa version of the 964 or 993?

No, the OCP carbon fibre rear window air intake fits the 964 Coupe and 993 Coupe only. The Targa has a different C-pillar geometry that makes the kit incompatible. If you're building a Targa, this will not work. Check the model selector tab before ordering.

Does installing the kit require cutting a hole in the rear shelf?

Cutting the rear shelf is optional, not mandatory. The v2 design lets you install and fully secure the carbon fibre air intake to the metal of the rear shelf without making any cut. In that configuration, the kit is essentially a cosmetic fitment and no air is routed to the engine bay. If you want the functional air feed to the engine, you'll use the included cutting template to make a single opening through the metal rear shelf. Both options are covered in the installation guide supplied with the kit.

What's included in the kit?

The OCP Rear Window Air Intake Kit ships with everything needed for a complete install: a carbon fibre tube with internal black debris mesh, left and right clear acrylic PMMA rear side windows, CNC'd aluminum bezels connecting the windows to the tube, a cutting template, and a full installation guide. The aluminum bezels come in your choice of polished aluminum, matte silver, or matte black. You can also choose between matte or gloss clearcoat finish for the carbon tube.

What carbon fibre finish options are available, and which should I choose?

The carbon fibre tube is available in three finishes: raw (no clear coat, for a dry matte look), gloss clearcoat, and matte clearcoat. All three are the same carbon construction - it's purely an aesthetic choice.

How long does the kit take to arrive after ordering?

Production usually takes 2-3 weeks from order. The kit ships direct from Germany - factor in international shipping time on top of production, typically an additional 4-7 business days depending on your location. What keeps road debris from getting into the engine bay?

Each CNC'd aluminum bezel connecting the acrylic window to the carbon tube includes an interior wire mesh screen. This blocks rocks, leaves, and other debris from being pulled into the engine bay along with the intake air. The mesh is installed at the factory - it's not a DIY add-on step.

The OCParts carbon rear window air intake pulls ambient air from both factory green tint acrylic rear side windows and routes it through a single center opening to the engine bay. The air path uses CNC’d aluminum joints with interior wire mesh to prevent debris entry. The system draws from both sides simultaneously, giving a meaningful volume increase in cool air supply to the engine.

This is v2 of the intake. The v2 has been reengineered for easier installation with more side to side adjustment when sliding the pre-assembled windows with bezels into place. The kit can be installed in aesthetic configuration without cutting the metal parcel shelf. For full functional airflow – air actually reaching the engine bay – a hole must be cut in the rear metal parcel shelf using the supplied cut template. The carbon air tube is then secured from below using the thread inserts embedded in the base of the carbon outlet. This is a one-time operation clearly described in the downloadable installation guide.

The factory green tint acrylic rear side windows are supplied with the kit. They replace the OEM rear side windows and integrate with the intake housing. The intake housing is a single carbon fiber tube that spans the full rear shelf width.

This is one of the most visually distinctive parts in the OCParts catalogue. On a properly built 964 or 993 backdate, the intake announces the level of the build before the engine is started.

Installation notes
Step 1: Remove OEM rear side windows, and remove upholstery and audio speakers from rear parcel shelf so metal is visible.

Step 2: Fit one of the acrylic windows supplied with the kit.

Step 3: Mount the carbon intake housing to the rear shelf.

Step 4 (for full function): cut the rear metal parcel shelf using the supplied template and drill indicated holes in shelf. Use the supplied alignment template. The installation guide covers every step with photos. If in doubt on the shelf cut, have a professional bodyshop do this step.

Step 5: Loose install second rear side window and ensure carbon tube clearance of C-pilars on each side.

Step 6: Securely install both windows in window frame ensure tube is aligned inside each aluminum bezel, and tack bezels to carbon tube to ensure air cannot escape.
Step 7: Secure carbon air tube in place from below with screws from the engine bay.

Note: It is a good idea to plan out and install any finishing steps/upholstery for the metal parcel shelf prior to permanently securing the carbon to the bezels and the parcel shelf.
